Let me begin by saying this: its so good to know I'm not the only one fascinated by this! I won't go so far as to say I'm not a little wierd, but at least I'm not alone (lol!). This site is awesome -- what a resource! I have a bachelor's in political science, not so I can be a lawyer or run for office, but because I am interested in a field that challenges me to use multiple disciplines to make the world a better place. I've always been fascinated by forensics and social sciences, and this seems to bet the place where the two worlds meet. |

Hi, I've just came across this site and think it is full of interesting information as regards to criminological/sociological aspects. My suggestion is that everyone using this site gives his utmost in sharing his information with others. By doing so this site will surely continue to be productive. By the way I'm also a Criminology student and would like to include this site as part of my reference for my studies. Take Care. |

Anyway, if your around 25-35yrs old, and you've thrown yourself in the deep end, by going to uni after a long rest from education. Hi, My name is Adele and I'm writing to educate how low blood sugar has affected my emotions through out my life. Sugar was my drug of choice. I ate a lot of it from when I was very young. It caused my blood sugar to fluctuate. My major problem was that I wanted to die every day of my life from when I was 8 years old on. I also got quit irritable, was manic, hyperactive, unfocused, and extremely emotionally imbalanced. If I had not had good parents that loved me I would have either killed my self or killed some one else. I never had a child because I thought I would kill it. This blood sugar business does not get talked about enough, but has been around since we have over used refined sugars in our diets in the past 80 years. It's just been in the past 20 years Refined sugar seems to be in all man made foods. There are now over 20 million Americans that are on anti depressants. Sugar seems to be a major culprit. This is what causes most low blood sugar problems of today from all the research I have done. I do hope someday crime investigators look into this disease! |

Hey. I'm a Commnuications major with a Crim minor at the University of Ottawa. One of my profs this year is Bob Gaucher, one of the creators of JPP:The journal of prisoners on prisons. The edited anthology "Writing as Resistance" is definitely worth a look. A lot of great pieces by prisoners such as Mumia Abu Jamal, Ms. Cree, Steven King Ainsworth, Jaun Rivera and Little Rock Reed. Definitely a good read for Crim students, especially those interested in the process of prizonization, specifically Goffman and Clemmers works on the subject. |

I have found this site to be very useful in finding some helpful information on the full impact and understanding of Criminology. I am a full time student at Buffalo State College, in Buffalo New York. I am doing research in this area of different theories that are essential in understanding crime and justice and the impact these theories have on our criminal justice system. The interest I have in this topic can be attributed to the professors I had at Niagara County Community College, in Sandborn (Niagara Falls) New York. I owe them a great deal of appreciation in their techniques, and teaching styles that began to peek my interest. |

Sage is pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of a major new academic journal... European Journal of Criminology is an exciting new journal that will be the prime European source for authoritative information and analysis on crime and criminal justice issues. It will be launched in January 2004 by the European Society of Criminology in partnership with Sage Publications. The journal seeks to open channels of communication between academics, researchers and policy makers across the wider Europe. It will also be of value and interest to a broad international audience. At a time when crime and punishment is being hotly debated across Europe, the journal will seek to bring together broad theoretical accounts of crime, analyses of quantative data, comparative studies, systematic evaluations of interventions and discussions of criminal justice institutions. Each issue will include a ‘country survey’ of a selected country within the wider Europe (the EU and beyond). Country surveys will summarize essential facts about the criminal justice system, review trends in crime and punishment, and discuss major publications in recent years The journal will also cover analysis of policy and the results of policy, but not description of policy developments. Early issues will cover: Country surveys: Ireland, France, Switzerland Articles on: identifying patterns of offending behaviour; Russian prisons; explaining cross-national differences in victimization Themes: youth offending (Germany, Switzerland, England); community influences on offending (Germany, England) Inquiries and expressions of interest should be sent to the editor at the following email address: David.J.Smith@ed.ac.uk Papers may also be sent to the same email address. Alternatively papers may be sent to the editor at the following postal address: Professor David J. Smith School of Law University of Edinburgh Old College South Bridge Edinburgh EH8 9YL UK Members of the European Society of Criminology will receive a subscription to the European Journal of Criminology as part of their value-for-money benefits package. Please visit the journal page at www.sagepub.co.uk for more membership details. European Journal of Criminology (ISSN 1477-3708) will be published quarterly by SAGE publications. Hi, I am at a crossroads and would love some insight or any suggested directions. I am in college working on a BS on Organizational Leadership and Management. Unfotunately, I dont think it is the right path to be on. These are my passions that are "not" being acted upon and I am trying to decide if I should switch majors which would force me to switch schools and take an extra year for my BS: I am interested in child protective services and foster care, forensic science and anything I can find on the Discovery Channel or TLC like the FBI Files, New Detectives, etc. and the show CSI. I only enjoy reading books that are crime solving types like Patricia Cornwell and John Sanford just to name a couple. I currently work in the Internet industry at a corporation and I dont want to be stuck here forever. I am pretty sure I dont want to be in clinical psychology, but want a more hands on career and I want to figure things out. Any suggestions? I am 31 and running out of time to switch careers or educational tracks... Thanks, Shannon, Virginia |

I am a lawyer. I was responsible for brining India's former Prime Minister to book. He was awarded three years sentence under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He had bribed other Members of Parliament to vote in favour of his minority Congress Party Government in 1993. He was not alone. There were other accused persons too.But they were acquitted by Court. I have filed legal proceedings that their acquittal was not proper. That matter is now before Delhi High Court. I am searching for support of my theory that persons in political power habitually or compulsively bribe others to secure their support-something like environmental criminology or political criminology. So far I have found only one book (not on criminology) wherefrom I may be able to say one author say it is common in India. It must be so in other countries too. There must be soething in some good work on criminology on these lines. Could someone help. I shall be grateful. |

Excellent site here! It was helpful to me as I am writing a Deviance/Criminology section for my website, Sociologist At Large. I specialize in Deviance, but am not a pure Criminologist. Thanks for the help! If you or anyone here would like to be a contributing writer, send me an e-mail. Stop by my site sometime at http://ryoung001.homestead.com |

Congratulations! I am total beginner of Criminology - I am actually doing my M.Sc. in European Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science - but I always wanted to have a look at this field. I think that next term I might choose a course called 'Quantitative and Qualitative Methods of Criminological Inquiry'. My supervisor won't be really happy about it of course, but I'll try to persuade him by 'merging' the two fields, e.g. looking at the ...comparative criminological approaches in Europe!! Anyway, your site has been really helpful in gaining an introductory knowledge of the field. Please don't change anything until June! Promise? |
